Everything You Need To Know About Informed Delivery (And How You’ll Benefit From It.)

June 26, 2017 • Posted by DM20

Do you constantly wonder what’s coming in the mail today?  Have you ever wondered if you’ve missed an important notification or event from not checking your mailbox in a while?

Well, wonder no more.

The United States Postal Service has introduced a new feature, which allows you to see what will get to your mailbox that day.  Sign-up here for the free USPS service and you’ll receive an email with images of mail you’re receiving- every single day.

Snail Mail, Email and now Pre-Mail? Why?

Look:

UPSP reports that they saw a decline between 2010 and 2014, losing 15.5 billion in total mail volume.

This is because Millennial lives are largely digital. They interact with their mobile devices almost all day long, their preferred method of communication is digital. It became a priority for the USPS to integrate with the digital world to manage to stay relevant to the Millennial generation.

Informed Delivery offers direct mail a way to connect with the growing number of people who have completely switched to online communications.

You bet they made the right decision:

Up until May of this year, 2 Million people had signed up for the Informed Delivery service.

Impressive?

It gets better. More than 10,000 people are signing up every single day.

You might be thinking:

“Okay, sounds great. But how does this help my customers get better results with their direct mail campaigns?”

Great question.

Informed Delivery does a lot more than just showing their users a preview of their mail. It allows advertisers to interact with their potential customers: physical and digital worlds simultaneously.

“Wait, What?”

Yes. You read that right!

With Informed Delivery, DirectMail2.0 will be able to enhance the mailing piece when it’s scanned into the mailstream by adding a full color ad, interactive content and a link that users can click to get to a specific website as they view their snail mail online.

This takes direct mail marketing to a whole new level.

We are currently working with the United States Postal Office to add this feature in the upcoming months.

Picture this:

A customer receives an email notification on their phone that they’ve got mail. They open their mailbox through their email and see a postcard they have interest in. No longer do they have to type the website address, it simply takes one click to get there. Super easy- and guess what? If they don’t call or make a purchase immediately, they’ll be followed all over the internet with our Online Follow Up feature.

We are working directly with USPS to integrate this new feature on our platform.   We don’t have a release date yet but if you are interested in beta testing this when we do please email ericas@dm20.com   and she’ll be more than happy to help answer any questions!
